Vegan Clothing Brand ♥︎ Verb Q&A Series with Annie Chang

At Verb, we love to feature creators that are out there living their verb. In this month’s Q&A, we are highlighting Annie Chang, whose vegan clothing brand, or/else, is awesome for those who want to translate their plant-based lifestyle into their clothing.

Here we talked to her about the meaning behind her business name, her care for animals and her love for versatile products.

I want to help consumers take their plant-based lifestyle to the next level with well-made garments.

Where do you find inspiration (can be a current obsession)?

I get inspiration from everyday people.

A book that I love is Emily Spivack’s Worn Stories – it always brings a smile to my face when I read the story behind each of the products. ☺

What’s your favorite software/app/website to use for work?

I pretty much use Canva for everything. I also use Afterlight to edit my photos for social media.

Where does the name of your business come from?

Our name means the second of possibilities and is a playful take on the message that there’s truly no planet b.

In an alternate life, what would your career be?

An astronaut

What is your mission in this business?

I want to help consumers take their plant-based lifestyle to the next level with well-made garments.

How did you get into your industry?

I started in the industry as an intern for Twinkle by Wenlan back in 2007. It was an exciting (and different) time to be working in fashion in New York (the tents at Bryant Park!)

What do you love about your industry?

We create truly versatile products that people use every day.

What drives you crazy about your industry?

The amount of animal products that go to waste.

What’s something about your work/industry that most people wouldn’t know?

The industry is not as glamorous as one might think.

What makes your company unique?

annie-chang-female-entrepreneur-women-business-verb-blog-mgmt-clothing-blog-wear-vegan

We’re the first vegan, synthetic-free knitwear brand with a focus on essentials for the modern family. Our production is small-batch and we’re working our way towards zero waste.

Finally, we always ask: What’s your verb? The action you live to do; the thing that gets you going on tough days; your raison d’etre.

Change.

We all have the power to change something.
